It doesn't work out. After looking at it from every angle, I can only conclude that I tried everything possible.
But my feet hurt too much, I don't move well. (And my groin hurts, my intestines rumble and I broke a pole)
I return to CP4 in Krækkja.
Feet treated by the fantastic Janne.
Tried to fix my broken pole with duck tape, to a mild success. (I forgot to mention I broke a pole yesterday)
I am setting out again, up to Vatnahalsen.
#OBT500 update 2/2
The irritations in my groin area are contained. The rest of my body is fine, all matters considered.
I hobbled on to CP4, had a meal and a good 4hrs of sleep (the max allowed time). In total 18hrs for 60km, of which 8hr for the last 24.
I cannot put any weight on the underside of my feet for the moment.
#OBT500 update 1/2
The section from CP3 to 4 was hard on my feet. The underground is very rough, with either rocky paths or water.
2/3rd in on this section I had developed some extra blisters on the underside of my right foot. I stopped to treat them (clean-pop-tape), but I could not put my foot flat on the ground while hiking (not running conditions).
A bit later the same happened on the left foot, but it was raining and I did not stop to treat my foot. My sports tape is all used anyway.
Rough terrain and hurting feet (blisters, blue nail bed and masserated soles) makes for slow progress. But here I am at CP2, time for food and rest. #OBT500
Dear friends,
On Thursday, 3 July, at 08:00, I leave on a great adventure. I am taking part in the Oslo Bergen Trail in Norway.
Along the way there are 8 check points where I can get supplies and possibly sleep. For the rest, I am self-supported. My pack with all the mandatory kit and the necessary food and drink weighs about 9kg.
You can follow me along and maybe post an encouraging message on my personal Ferrett site: https://ferrett.io/u/teufen/obt500
